The 1981 Z28 came with an insulation package option.
This included insulation under the hood as pictured on the yellow Z28. It also included special
insulation in the floor board and fire wall under the carpet, and behind the rear seat and trunk compartment. Note that the
photo identifies the correct insulation; however, it is important to note that the underside of the hood on this car was painted
yellow as a matter of preference. From an originality standpoint, the underside of the hood should be black.
The photo below depicts a 1981 Z28 Camaro that did not come with the insulation
option and therefore has no insulation under the hood. This photo shows the original (correct) finish for the underside of
the hood.
