The two photos above represent an original 1981
Z28 Camaro 70 AMP Alternator / Generator. The 1981 Z28 Camaro came standard with a 55 AMP Generator. This car happens to have
the optional K73 70 AMP heavy duty generator. The alternator bracket for the 70 AMP generator is different from the alternator
bracket for the 55 AMP generator. The specific alternator which came on the car will be listed on the build sheet as either
K73 70 AMP GEN or K77 55 AMP GEN. An original alternator will have a silver zinc plated pulley and fan. Most replacements
have a yellow zinc plated pulley and fan. An original 70 AMP GEN alternator would be identical to the one in the photo, including
the silver zinc plated pulley and fan. It is very rare to find a car which has the original alternator, as these were generally
rebuilt after a few years and most cars have a replacement or rebuilt alternator
