The 81Z28 came with a brushed aluminum trimmed instrument panel.  The following are the instruments found on the 81Z dash.  The cigarette lighter was standard and did not have the burning cigarette drawing on the face as a lot of the repo’s have, just the plain brushed aluminum. Those cars equipped with rear window defogger (option c49, $99.00) had a switch on the dash panel (See photo below)  The head light switch was on the left side of the instrument panel and it does have the light diagram painted on the face.  Speaking of head lights, 1981 was the first year the halogen head lights were offered as an option (TR4, $36.00).  The following radios were available for 1981: U63 AM radio $90, U69 radio AM-FM $142, U58 AM-FM stereo radio $178, UM2 AM-FM radio stereo CB and power antenna $487.  There was a power antenna available also, U75 at $47.  The windshield type antenna U76 was available for $25. The gauges include the clock, gas, temp, and alternator.  In the center of the panel the round light (about an inch in diameter) is the Check Engine Light.  The 85 MPH speedometer and tachometer are mounted on each side of the Check Engine Light.
